Looking forward to the holiday weekend, I realize that I didn't have any plans yet. Disappointed at first, I thought I might have offended enough people that no one wanted to invite me to their barbeque!! But then I realized that I have been very d-preoccupied lately and hadn't kept in touch with family and friends to plan for anything. So what to do?

Then it hit me. My son had been asking to go on a trip somewhere because he's been wanting to explore (i.e. he's been bored). I have three days of no work and beautiful weather ahead. It's like a gift of free time. Time to do whatever we wanted without any schedule or time restraints. So we hatched a plan....

We live on Long Island and we have never gone exploring here! We love photography and there is no limit of photo opportunities right here in our own back yard. Then my son added another dimension to the plan......we will journal our exploration, documenting everywhere we go, in a book with maps, photos and  memorabilia...and we will continue this for the entire summer, a summer project for his last summer before Jr. High School (and the age when parents become an embarrasment to be seen with..hehehehe).

Instead of seeing this as a negative, I have a great plan for our holiday weekend and I have a summer long quest to fulfill.......with my little man, my camera, a journal, and some free time!
